Raising Awareness – Mesothelioma

Tonight I would like to raise awareness for Mesothelioma. Today, 26th September is Mesothelioma Awareness Day.

A lovely lady named Heather Von St. James made contact with me today. Heather is an amazing woman. Seven years ago she was diagnosed with Mesothelioma, a rare and deadly cancer. She was also told she would have only 15 months left to live. Yet Heather is still alive and breathing seven years later. A Mesothelioma survivor.

Now I really admire this woman and would love to help her raise awareness for this cancer. Not knowing much about Mesothelioma myself I browsed through the website where you can contact Heather personally (will leave links at the bottom of post). So let me tell you all a bit about Mesothelioma.

  • Mesothelioma is a deadly cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.
  • Every year 3,000 people are diagnosed with this cancer and on average are given only 10 months to live. That’s only 300 days and 7,200 hours.
  • Asbestos fibers are invisible to the naked eye and can still be found in many homes, schools, and commercial or industrial buildings.
  • No amount of exposure to asbestos is safe.

I would love it if all of my followers could help Heather out and share this post and raise awareness too for her and the others that may be suffering. Please spread the word as best as you can! Thank you for viewing guys and remember please share this post! 🙂

  1. As I’m from down under, as in Australia. I will look this up, I have little knowledge except it’s a rare type of cancer, this morning is the 27th, so I will find out if down here we have an awareness day. I know it’s not today though! I also am a computer basic, there’s a button , that says reblog, can anyone help, I’ve never reblogged as I don’t know , how to do it? Sorry, sendind support, positive vibes and strength to this brave lady. Thank you for sharing awareness..lol

    1. Thank you Ziggy for this comment! Yes if you click ‘reblog’ it will reblog to your blog. Thanks so much 🙂 Every little counts! If you need advice with the blogging feel free to comment or email any time,

      All the best.

      Maria 🙂

      1. Thanks for your advise, I’m going to to a bit a ‘looking into’ whether Aussie’s have a awareness day as well. I hope we do, as I understand it, it’s a very cruel disease, as you shared , so little time. It’s a very hard day for me, however i’m reminded to REALLY count my blessings and do a gratitude list…lol

Sorry, how do I know your e-mail, as I said, I am a COMPLETE BEGINNER, however love WP community!!!

      2. Lol that is understandable! It’s on my ‘about’ section but I will post it here for you if that’s easier 🙂 .. mariaserieswrites (@) gmail . com

    1. Argh that must have been a stressful time for you! So lucky to have it removed in time! I have been trying to eat more healthier and work out to decrease the risks.

  2. I’ve done some research on what asbestos is after reading this post and I’m surprised by just how many things we take for granted use the material. I’ll put this in my ideas book for artworks and promote awareness when I’m set up as an artist.

I have a ‘no-reblogging’ policy on my Art Frog website so that all the content on it is my own, but I’m definitely reblogging this on my s3c43t 23 site.

    1. Yeah I know it’s crazy! I knew that asbestos could be damaging to the body but never knew about Mesothelioma until yesterday. It’s quite shocking! But if we can spread the word it may help. Thanks for reblogging on the other account, so grateful! And I’m sure Heather appreciates this too 🙂
